The Printer Who Changed the World One Page at a Time
The Man Who Gave the World Books
Hey Go-Getter,
Time to meet a guy who’s truly revolutionary: Johannes Gutenberg. We’ve just traveled north to Germany, where Gutenberg is hunched over his invention in a dimly lit workshop. This man’s not wielding a sword or commanding armies; he’s using ink and metal letters to shake the world.
Gutenberg turns to us, his hands covered in ink. “With this,” he says, holding up a movable type, “I can make knowledge travel faster than a horseman and farther than any ship.”
His invention, the printing press, meant that knowledge was no longer just for the wealthy. Books became affordable, and literacy spread across Europe, fueling education, innovation, and even entrepreneurship. Suddenly, everyone—from a farmer to a king—could have access to the same information, allowing people to develop new ideas, skills, and even businesses.
“Ol' Mo, think about it,” I say. “This man here—he’s democratizing knowledge.”
Ol' Mo chuckles, “Y’all reckon folks gonna use this for good or for trouble? Either way, the world’ll never be the same.”
Message from Ol' Mo:
"True innovation empowers others. When your business lifts people up, they’ll help you reach new heights in return."
